FODO Scotland announces new Chair and Vice-Chair
Hal Rollason has announced he will be retiring as Chair of FODO Scotland in the New Year after playing a leading role in the organisation for more than 18 years. Two people succeed him. Kathryn Trimmer of Duncan & Todd steps in as FODO Scotland Chair while Stuart Laird of ASDA takes up a new role of Vice-Chair.
Kathryn has worked for both independent and multiple practices, supervised pre-registration optometrists, held senior professional management roles and has been an active part of Optometry Scotland Executive and Council in previous roles. Today she is a lead clinician at Duncan and Todd Group, Council Member at the College of Optometrists, and Grampian AOC Chair.
Kathryn said: “It will be hard to step into Hal’s shoes, but Stuart and I will give it our best shot. Working with FODO Scotland and Optometry Scotland members is always beneficial for patients and the profession and I am looking forward to that very much. Having chaired an AOC, I also know the importance of AOCs and their links with health boards in what we do. I will try, as FODO Scotland Chair, to work closely with and through them to take us all to the next level of eye care in Scotland.”
After graduating from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2009, Stuart has worked as a locum and resident optometrist. Today he is a Glasgow AOC committee member and Optometry Compliance Manager at ASDA Opticians.
Stuart said: “I always enjoy FODO Scotland meetings and am looking forward very much to supporting Kathryn and working more closely with FODO Scotland and Optometry Scotland colleagues in this new role.”
Commenting on the appointments, Hal said: “I am delighted to be handing over to Kathryn and Stuart, two excellent clinicians, managers and leaders with a wealth of experience. I wish them every success in the roles they are taking on.”
Kathryn will also become FODO Scotland’s representative on the OS executive committee, and Stuart as Vice-Chair will step into FODO Scotland’s seat on the OS Council.
